Tortilla Somosas
Ingredients:
Flour soft Tortillas (small size)
Vegetable Oil (enough to deep fry)
1 large Onion chopped finely
1-2 Green Chillies chopped finely
1 cup chopped Coriander (Chinese parsley) leaves
1 tbsp Ginger and Garlic paste
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder (optional)
1 tbsp Water
Salt to taste
Allpurpose Flour to make slurry to seal edges of the tortillas

Method

  1. Prepare the filling:
  2. Heat the oil in a sauce pan on a medium high. Add the onions, finely minced meat (chicken, turkey, or beef), and saute until they turn brown (meat can be substituted with finely chopped peas, carrots, mushrooms, celery etc.)
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste, a pinch of turmeric, green chilies, and cook on medium for about 15-20 minutes until the meat is cooked.
  4. Add coriander leaves and let the filling cool.
  5. Prepare the Samosas:
  6. (can be oven baked at 350 F or deep oil fried)
  7. Heat the oil in a deep sauce pan under medium high. Cut the tortillas into two halves, and fold them like a V shape with the front flaps overlapping.
  8. Fill V shaped tortillas with the above filling, and seal the edges with slurry of the all purpose flour.
  9. Deep fry them until they turn light brown colour (Don't over fry them).
  10. Place them on a plate with paper napkins.
